Health officials have changed their advice because of concern that indoor lifestyles are depriving people of key nutrients.

Public Health England's standard advice is that everyone should consider supplementing with vitamin D during the autumn and winter months, which they have now revised to include the rest of the lockdown period.

Vitamin D - also known as the "sunshine vitamin" - is mainly obtained from direct sunlight, which is why, even under usual circumstances, an estimated 60 - 90% of us are low in vitamin D.
