Thanks for trusting us to be a part of your unique journey to optimal health! It seems that you are already an expert in personalised nutrition, so let’s take it to the next level by diving into the science and rationale behind your recommendation.

Here at Vitl we take the guesswork out and are led by science to ensure that your journey to optimised health and wellness is smooth, convenient and most importantly beneficial, so that you can unlock your full potential and live life to the fullest.

The importance of personalised micronutrients

Vitamins, minerals and trace elements are essential components that the body needs in small quantities for its proper functioning, and can be obtained through a balanced diet. However, the typical Western diet seems to exceed recommendations for things like refined grains, sodium (salt), saturated fats and calories, and falls short in important nutrients such as fibre, vitamin D, iodine, vitamin B12, to name some. Coupled with this, a decrease in the nutritional value of foods throughout the years makes it very difficult to maintain optimal nutrient levels, which is why supplementing an already healthy diet with nutrients tailored to your unique needs is the best way forward.

Still, we are all unique and different, so we believe that a ‘one size fits all’ approach is outdated. This is why our in-house nutritionists, dieticians and medical experts have developed our online consultation to make sure you are getting the nutrients you actually need, and not overloading your body with unnecessary supplementation. Over-supplementation, by the way, can cause adverse effects like haemochromatosis (overload of iron), hypercalcaemia (too much calcium), and hyperkalaemia (too much potassium), to name a few examples.

How are we different?

Our consultation maps out your diet and lifestyle, whilst our blood test gives you an accurate overview of your micronutrient levels and perhaps confirms certain symptoms. Thirdly, our DNA test gives an indication of your genome and the effect this may have on certain traits. Whilst only one is needed to recommend you a Personalised Pack, if all three are done then this increases the accuracy of your recommendation and gives you a clearer idea of your nutritional health status.

Synergy/Quality

Micronutrients work in conjunction with one another to optimise their effect in the body, known as ‘synergy’. Similar to our food which is made up of a range of nutrients that all work together providing benefit, our supplements are focused on ensuring that the nutrients you are taking work together in the most coordinated way.

Vitamin C and zinc have great synergistic effects; they support various components of the immune system to keep us fighting fit. They are used (along with vitamin D) by our immune cells to engage in the prevention and fighting of various infections that we may come across in our busy lives. Research has shown that B vitamins also have a synergistic effect which means they are often bunched together into a B complex as they work better this way. In your carefully formulated blend, we make sure to include B vitamins together, to ensure their maximum effectiveness.

Why Vitl is superior

You will be familiar with what vitamins and minerals do in the body, however, not all supplements are created equal. Quality is important to us- that’s why we have chosen the best form of each nutrient to complement your diet. We pride ourselves on only sourcing and including the best form of each nutrient/ingredient in our pills. We understand that real, whole food is what is most important, so we have chosen the highest quality form of each nutrient that the body recognises. This includes the most biologically active and most absorbable forms. We do not use the preservatives and bulking agents that make up the majority of many supplements, the long term effects of which are not yet fully understood.

We also ensure that we include nutrients in their most bioavailable form. The term ‘bioavailability’ refers to how well a nutrient (or drug) is absorbed and used by the body. Many internal and external factors can influence this, from genetics to food processing. We want to give your body the best chance to absorb essential vitamins and minerals by using their most ‘active’ form, to help you function at a level you should!
